Most of our OTHER groups meet occasionally or seasonally around certain common interests. And some of them include worship or receive ministry help from each other.
But for those of us who want it ALL, we have Traditional Home Groups that meet twice per month.
Please see the various group descriptions below. You will also find descriptions and take-with-you maps for all Groups in the main hallway at the church.Rowlett Home Group

This is a family group where children are welcome. We have a time of worship, teaching of the word, prayer ministry, fellowship and sometimes food. Mostly we have a LOT of FUN with the Lord and each other.

We meet at 7:00 pm on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month. The format is worship, teaching, prayer and snacks/fellowship.

Leaders are Tom and Veva Roth, for contact details please click here. Who to Contact

To find out more about out ALL of our Groups, please select the Groups menu (across the top section of this site). Select anything that sounds interesting from the pull down menus.
You may select by geographic location, day of the week, time of day, type of group or topic of interest. You may also get there from here.

4th Quarter LIFE GROUPS - life.groups

life.groupsOur life.groups are designed to produce a sense of community within the body and the realization that "church" is not something that happens once a week on Sunday mornings. It is you, it is me, it is individuals living everyday life in community with each other and the world around us. It is getting coffee together, watching a movie, discussing a book or a passage of scripture, sharing an interest, passion, or skill with those around us, encouraging one another in our journey of faith.

That is the "church". That is the body of Christ, whether it takes on the form of scrapbooking, service outreaches, Bible studies, prayer, video games, softball, book clubs, drama, hunting, or even just deep conversations. We are to live life together, and in the process create meaningful, long lasting relationships that look past what the world sees and connect us heart to heart, making us family. Making us the body of Christ. Making us His church.

One of the many ways we carry out this vision, is through our Compassion Ministry. The NHV Compassion Ministry shares God's love to the community outside our church through the unity of those inside our church.Who we are

We are just like you! We are fathers, mothers, grandparents, singles and youth. We are young and old, working and retired. We are God's servants bringing our faith alive, sharing our love and time with others in their time of need. What we believe

We believe the love of God looks and feels more real as we show love and care to others.

"for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me...." Matthew 25:35-36 Our Various Compassion MinistriesDivorce Recovery and Divorce Care 4 Kids
Encouragement for Hospital Stays and Bereavement
Food Pantry and Clothing Closet
Home Care
Nursing Home Visits
Transportation Assistance
Utility Assistance How you can help

This ministry is supported through the assistance of MANY united and loving volunteers. If you have an open heart, a listening ear, can give a hug or just be there for somebody - then you can help. Other simple things that could make a big difference include: Cooking a meal
Donating an unused furniture item
Driving someone to a doctor's appointment
Taking smiles to someone stuck at home or in the hospital
Buying a few extra groceries for a family short on funds

In the body of Christ EVERY member is equipped to serve in some way whether it be large or small. And although we are each equipped differently - together in unity - we function perfectly.Who to Contact

Vince, our church elder, has been reactivated and will be deploying to Iraq for 6 months in January. Instead of sending out emailed updates, we have created a blog with updated information and prayer needs that we will continue the entire time he is in Iraq. You can read updates and leave comments for Vince. It will be specific as to prayer needs and what he is doing but will not contain any sensitive or identifying information. (It will also be monitored by the US government :-) Please add us to your favorites!

Thanks for caring and praying for our family!

Ultimately Jesus is our Leader and our Head. However, it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Cliff King's experience in the ministry has spanned a wide range over the last 25 years. He was raised up by the Episcopals, saved by the Baptists, discipled by the Bible Church, hired up by the Presbyterians and FIRED UP by the Charismatics. This diverse background molded him into a Pastor who has strong convictions about what he believes and yet a tender heart for those who might disagree. As a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, he has a solid biblical foundation that God combined with the fire of His Holy Spirit to create a man uniquely prepared to pastor New Horizon Vineyard. Cliff has been married to his precious wife Robbi for over 25 years and they have three young adult children, Corley, James and Lindy.Who to Contact

We don't have a regular schedule but we try to do something that involves either target shooting, fishing or hunting at least every 2 to 3 months.

Please watch the church bulletin for details or check out What's Happening @ NHV (in the About Us section on the left). You may also get there from here. What We Do

The Target Shooting event is open to men starting as young as 16 and any age beyond that. We welcome new and seasoned shooters alike. We shoot skeet and trap on the shotgun fields. And we shoot targets with pistols and rifles. We offer pointers for new folks and remain open to learning from each other.

You'll need about $20 to cover various range fees and your meal during our 'bragging' time afterwards. And of course bring whatever firearms you own and plenty of ammo. This is the ultimate in male-bonding.

Our Hunting excursions require a lot more planning. We hunt anything from deer to various fowl and even wild boars.

When we Fish, we like to rent a pontoon boat and take a large group all at one time. But again, these events require a lot more planning. Please let us know of your interest in any of our Men's events. Who to Contact

We meet on the LAST Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in the church parking lot. We usually head to the theatre in Rockwall. This is our chance to watch the good shoot-em-ups or crackpot comedies that somehow our significant others never want to see. What We Do

Depending on when the movie starts, we occasionally can grab something quick to eat just before the movie. The movie usually lets out a bit late so some of us spend time reviewing the movie while standing around in the parking lot. While others head out for a late snack. All in all, it's another opportunity for some male bonding. Who to Contact

We meet on the 1st Saturday of each month at 7:30 am in the church parking lot. We sometimes get a treat when the ladies want to prepare breakfast for a bunch of guys. But we'll be honest, this doesn't happen all that often. But hey a guy's gotta eat, so we fend for ourselves by heading out to any local diner. We oftentimes change it up, that's why we always start in the church parking lot. Who is Welcome

Guys of all ages are encouraged to be a part of this. We all learn something from each other. In the process, everyone gets blessed and grows closer. Should you be in a bit of a rough spot, please don't let a lack of funds stop you. There is always a brother willing to support another. Just let one of us know if you could use a little help. What We Do

We sometimes use the time to plan our next Outdoorsmen event (you may get to that section from here.) But we usually have a topic for discussion that everyone gets to participate in. It's a great time to be seen and heard by others who really understand a guy's life. Who to Contact

                  Nursing HomeNursing Home Visits

You may have a friend or loved one in a local nursing home. If you do, we'd like to know about them. Our ministry team truly loves to visit the elderly to read to them, visit with them and pray with them. Many times we'll even leave a CD of our latest church service.Volunteer Opportunities

In this ministry, if you're a great listener you don't need to be good at conversation. Just having someone to talk to can make all the difference in the world to an elderly person.

We support this ministry with the assistance of MANY united and loving volunteers. Please consider signing up for temporary assignments in any number of our Compassion Ministries. You'll be blessed more than the recipient.

Hospital and BereavementEncouragement for Hospital Stays and Bereavement

NHV has a group of individuals who enjoy seeing God move in our local hospitals. These anointed people make sure you have encouragement and prayer to keep your faith and spirits high while you're in the hospital and even after you return to your home.

If you or someone you know has lost a loved-one through death, our Bereavement ministry is available to offer one-to-one support. Members of this ministry will not only pray for peace and comfort but offer encouragement through phone calls and notes.Volunteer Opportunities

It doesn't take much to brighten someone's day. It could be something as simple as reading them a poem, sending a card of encouragement or praying with someone. The main point is to let people know we care and haven't forgotten about them during their struggle.

It takes MANY united and loving volunteers to support a local community. Please consider signing up for temporary assignments in any number of our Compassion Ministries. You'll hardly believe the blessing it will be in your own life. Who to Contact

For any assistance or to inquire about volunteer opportunities, please contact our church office at 972.475.7511 or email our Hospital/Bereavement Coordinator, Shelby Marquis at compassion@nhvineyard.com

Ministries | True Freedom Prayer Ministry - True Freedom Ministry

In Romans 12:2 it says to "be transformed by the renewing of your mind". So we know that renewing our mind can transform us.

But what does it mean to "renew our mind"? Basically to get new thinking.

But why do we want new thinking? As early as childhood we start believing certain things about ourselves, other people and even God. Oftentimes our beliefs are not true. They may seem true at the time, but let's be honest, how wise can a 5-year old be?

The bottom line is all too frequently our reactions in the present have a root cause that started in the past. This is where Jesus steps in as GOD's (theo) LIGHT (phostic). We simply invite Him to bring His Light into your circumstances to help you discover what thinking might be blocking your way to true freedom in victorious peace.

Occasionally, we're fully aware of our thinking as it relates to feelings of being hurt, angry or scared. We might even know that we sometimes make sinful choices because we're attempting to manage internal pain. But yet other times we don't even realize we're not living in total victory. Whichever way describes us, if we get new thinking, we will be transformed! Our Mission

To help others develop an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. This is done through focused prayer for an authentic Christ encounter, mind renewal and life transformation. What this Prayer Ministry is Not

It is NOT about giving advice, diagnosing problems or sharing opinions and insight. True Freedom Prayer Ministry is Christ-centered and God-reliant for its direction and outcome. We acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the only one who can truly release us from our emotional duress.

Disclaimer: Counselors/ministers still have vital roles as listeners and instructors of biblical knowledge and godly living but without Christ none of us are as effective at bringing about LASTING PEACE. For more information you may visit www.theophostic.com
How it Works

A trained prayer minister and one other person, who has either been trained or is in training, meet with you privately. If you have certain feelings you're wondering about, the prayer ministers will present those to Jesus first. Then follow His leading from there. Each session lasts about 2 hours. How to Participate

Since this is a prayer ministry, there is absolutely no cost. However, prayer sessions are by appointment only and usually take place at the church building. Who to Contact

For more information, please contact our Prayer Ministry Leaders, DB Van Gilder or Wendy Bigony at truefreedom@nhvineyard.com

Ministries | Missions - Missions

Long after our missions trips and efforts to obey the Great Commission have ended, worship of the Lord God Almighty will still be going on. It will never end:
"And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and inside. Day and night without ceasing they sing, "Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God the Almighty, who was and is and is to come." (Revelation 4:8)
John Piper sums this up best:
"Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, missions will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever. Worship, therefore, is the FUEL and goal of missions. It's the goal of missions because in missions we simply aim to bring the nations into the white-hot ENJOYMENT of God's glory. The goal of missions is the gladness of the peoples in the greatness of God. 1
So when the PASSIONATE flame of our worship is kindled by our understanding of God's overwhelming greatness and superior worth, then our light for the nations will shine ever so brightly into the darkest corners of this earth. How NHV Shares its Burning Passion

The Association of Vineyard Churches (AVC) recognizes MISSIONS as one of the 10 areas of ministry that are ESSENTIAL to any Vineyard church. In fact it is part of the Vineyard Genetic Code.
The AVC uses U.S. based Partnerships to further missions. A Partnership is a group of churches that voluntarily come together with their time and resources. They choose a target area to focus in and pursue what God has called them to do. Together with the people of the targeted area they develop a strategic plan to carry out the vision.
Partnerships allow small to medium-sized churches make a significant contribution toward accomplishing the Great Commission with cross-cultural and trans-local missions.
As the African proverb says, "If you want to go fast - go alone. If you want to go far - go together." How to Participate

Throughout the year, short-term missions teams go to distant shores to minister to those who are hurting and hungry.
Please watch the church bulletin for details or check out What's Happening @ NHV (in the About Us section on the left).

You can take your prayer life to the next level by joining our Intercessory Prayer group. Our main goal is to gain intimacy with God. So we offer our prayers with an absolute dependence on Him and an emptiness of self. Often we wait on God rather than fill the air with words. We seek His face, listen for His guidance and pray as the Spirit leads over the various prayer requests. Intercession can change our church and our community.

"The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results." (James 5:16) When We Meet

We meet every Tuesday in the main sanctuary at 7:00 pm. Who to Contact

                                                                                           The Issue

As a single Christian adult you don't have a desire to be with other singles in a typical secular setting (bars and clubs). And you probably already realize that the way the world deals with those feelings - loneliness, abandonment, and isolation - doesn't bring any LASTING happiness.
Did you know God has a better plan for single adults? Singleness is a season ordained by God for the amount of time that pleases Him, to fulfill His plan for a person's life. Singleness is NOT a disease for which the only cure is marriage. A Great Solution

We at NHV have a heart and place for any single adult seeking a church home. First we offer a Singles group for building relationships with other singles. The group shares meals together and activities like volleyball, concerts and bowling.
Secondly, God sets the lonely in families.... (Psalm 68:6) Our married families openly welcome singles and singles with children into their homes for dinner and fellowship. This allows the children of single parents to see healthy interaction of other children with two parents. When We Meet

The Singles Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month. Times and locations vary depending on the activity.
Please watch the church bulletin for details or check out What's Happening @ NHV (in the About Us section on the left). You may also get there from here. Who to Contact

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      What We BelieveOur Vision

We believe that by Drawing Closer to God in true devoted worship, He restores wholeness in our lives. We are then able to Grow Stronger with each other and become the mature, unified Christ-followers we were created to be. As a result, we begin Living Louder in the world around us. We become effectual with our friends and neighbors who are just an invitation away from a life-changing encounter with their Lord and Savior. Our Method

We believe Everyone Should Get to Play. There are no spectators in the game of life at NHV. We were all created with a special purpose and certain talents needed to complete the Body of Christ. So we help everyone to get plugged in and involved.

We also strive to continually shine a bright light on biblical insights that help everyone in their growth and development. Our Core Values

The Bible | It's the menu not the meal. Jesus and the Holy Spirit | We hold to a Trinitarian theology with the Holy Spirit as the administrator of the church. Relationships | Real community and an open environment. The Individual | We value the individual by creating an environment of grace, and one where everyone 'gets to play'. Healing | We believe healing is God's general will; and it should be practical in a 'naturally supernatural' way. The Kingdom of God | We engage ourselves in Kingdom activities because we are part of a Kingdom that is 'already and not yet'.Our Beliefs (simplified)

We at NHV embrace the historical views of our faith.

We believe God created the universe and that He has always existed in three persons of one substance, the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit, all of them equal in power and glory.

We believe God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to this earth to be crucified on a cross so that final payment for our mistakes could be made. This we call salvation.

We believe salvation is a gift of God's mercy and that we can't earn it by the ‘good' things we do. We do however have to receive this salvation by personal faith in Jesus Christ. This faith is later visible to others by the things we do that are pleasing to God.

We believe that by trusting in what Jesus did for us, we are made right with God and we are now able to discover the true meaning and purpose for our lives.

We believe the Holy Spirit is given to those who trust in Jesus as their Savior. His purpose is to enable us to live the life we were created for.

We believe that Jesus rose from the dead after He was dead for 3 days and He's coming back to restore order to His creation.

We believe the Bible (Old and New Testaments) reveal these truths (and many more) because it is God's revelation to mankind. Our Beliefs (in FULL disclosure with plenty of scripture references)

Does the mention of 'money' somehow give you a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach? Do you find that you and your spouse end up constantly arguing about money? You're not alone; there are many who share your pain.
Did you know God has a lot to say about money and your well-being? Jesus spoke more on the topic of money than any other topic. A Great Solution

We at NHV know that until we learn to handle money God's way, we will never come into the financial peace and freedom that God intended for us. So we offer you HOPE. We endorse and teach the Crown Program from Crown Financial Ministries. Crown Financial Ministries

Christian Financial Concepts was founded in 1976 and merged with Crown Ministries in 2000 to become Crown Financial Ministries, an interdenominational, nonprofit ministry. As a result of God's blessings, it has grown into the world's largest financial ministry. 1

Crown has designed a comprehensive program to equip people of all ages and needs, to handle money God's way. The costs of the studies are affordable. 2 Crown has designed a comprehensive program to equip people of all ages and needs, to handle money God's way. The costs of the studies are affordable.

Crown's promise to individuals: Crown is a ministry God uses to transform lives, reduce stress, improve marriages, and draw people closer to Christ through the application of biblical financial principles. 3 When We Meet

As a new believer or lifetime Christian it's imperative to have a strong biblical foundation.

"And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock." Matthew 7:25 (NASB) "But the Spirit explicitly says that in latter times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits...." I Timothy 4:1 (NASB) "Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings....." Hebrews 13:9 (NASB) When We Meet

                                                                                                      The Issue

Let's be real. Although most of us are aware of the Great Commission, "GO therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19) we still find it difficult to even walk across the street to share our GOOD NEWS with our neighbors. For Americans, talking to strangers is the number one reported fear. What's up with that? OUTREACH should be our biggest goal but it's our biggest FEAR! BUT wait there's HOPE! A Great Solution

It's called SERVANT EVANGELISM. This is where we show God's kindness to others by doing a humble service for them with no strings attached. We're taking God at His Word when He says "His kindness leads to repentance" (Rom 2:4). Imagine the look on someone's face when we have real love in our eyes and hand them a FREE bottle of cold water on a HOT day. So many times they ask "why are you doing this?" We simply let them know we're showing God's kindness with no strings attached. Sometimes they're receptive and want to know more. But if they're not, that's OK too, because we've at least planted a seed. And it's just FUN to watch people light up when we say, "it's FREE, yeah totally FREE". So.... we have fun planting the seeds of God's love; the Holy Spirit waters the seeds. Then God gets the harvest! Now how cool is that? Small things done with great LOVE will change the world. Is it for you?

Servant Evangelism is a natural, easy, low-risk, high grace venture that's FUN for the whole family. If you can pour a cup of coffee, use a rake, or give away a smile - then you're qualified! When We Meet

We meet every couple of months in large groups for these Outreach events, which adds to the FUN and keeps anyone from feeling nervous. Please watch the church bulletin for details or check out What's Happening @ NHV (in the About Us section on the left). You may also get there from here. Who to Contact

                                                                                                                                           When We Meet

We get together as often as our family, church and work schedules will permit. Please watch the church bulletin or Newsletter for details or check out What's Happening @ NHV (in the About Us section on the left). You may also get there from here. Our Focus

To encourage and empower women of all ages by extending compassion and understanding to their individual needs. To allow the LOVE of God to change casual acquaintances into authentic, dynamic relationships. To reach out to all women through love and acceptance of where they are or where they've been. Our Promise

If you've been in women's groups before and loved them, then you'll feel right at home. If you've been in women's groups before and didn't find what you were looking for, give us a try - we believe we're different. We see each other's faults but still love and accept one another in spite of them. We don't believe anyone should be excluded or left out. If you've never been part of a women's group, you're in for a surprise. We know none of us are perfect and we don't pretend to be. We encourage each other to look beyond our individual weaknesses and imperfections and instead focus on the person God created us to be. In-Depth Studies

In the Spring and Fall we start a new book, video series or Bible study. This not only allows us to grow deeper spiritually but we also have a GREAT time before, during and after the studies. And there is almost always some kind of munchies at our gatherings. One on One

When we're not studying, we're focusing on building relationships within the women of NHV. The leaders connect one on one with each woman. Maybe it's an encouraging phone call, a lunch date, a shopping trip or a movie. The purpose is to build lasting relationships that continue to multiply outward. Ladies "Time Out"

Our ladies meet several times through the year for various types of FUN and FEMALE bonding. These events have included:
Baby ShowersCookie ExchangesLadies LuncheonsMini Spa NightPajama PartiesTotal Spa ExperienceVarious Women's ConferencesWedding ShowersWomen's RetreatsOur retreats are a time to briefly 'GET AWAY' - usually for a long weekend. Each Spring, we go to the beautiful piney woods of Hawkins, Texas (about 2 hrs east of Rowlett) to the Brookhaven Retreat Center. Our next Retreat will be April 2008. We'll give you more details as we get closer to the date. Volunteer Opportunities

The Women's Ministries at NHV are all coordinated by volunteers. And it takes many volunteers to organize some of our gift showers, luncheons and spa events. Please consider signing up as a servant volunteer. We can apply your talents for setting up tables and decorations, food preparation and clean up or spa services like makeovers and massages. Please let us know what your primary and secondary interests are. Who to Contact

All of the women's groups at NHV are meant to bring women closer together around their common interests. This is sometimes in depth studies, movies, luncheons or gift showers (please see Women's Ministry for more details). And yet other times we just need a CREATIVE outlet. When We Meet

We don't have a regular schedule but we try to do something as often as our family, church and work schedules will permit. Please watch the church bulletin for details or check out What's Happening @ NHV (in the About Us section on the left). You may also get there from here. What We Do

                                                                                                                   Who We Are

Encounter is where REAL teens meet the REAL Jesus. (1 John 1:3) All teens from grades 6-12 are welcome. Each Sunday Morning

We meet in Room 4 at 9:30 am to discuss topics that are significant to young people and the struggles they face. This can be anything from friends and family to temptations and sex. At 10:30 we dismiss and join the worship service in the main sanctuary. Each Wednesday Evening

We meet in the main sanctuary at 7:00 pm for awesome worship music and great Biblical messages. There's usually food and games afterwards, which allows for some FABULOUS friendships to be born. It's usually over by 9:00pm. 1st and 3rd Mondays of the Month

The guys meet for a home group at one place and the girls meet for a home group some place else. To find out more, please select Groups (across the top section of this site.) You may also get there from here. Special Events

Out of everything we do together, the Special Events are the most rewarding. A brief example of some of our eventsExtreme Camp included basketball, pamper pole, paddle boats, dangling duo, mountain bikes, sand volleyball, (3) paintball fields, (3) 300+ ft zip lines, 50 ft climbing tower, triple vertical playpen and a 2,000 sq ft water park-style pool with waterslides. The Retreat was a weekend out in the country in Wimberly, Texas. We had an amazing time that was a spiritual retreat as well as fun. Even though it was 60 degrees outside, most of us went swimming!Acquire the Fire sponsored by Teen Mania is usually the last weekend in March or first weekend in April. This is a youth conference with lots of live bands, amazing drama, poignant video clips and fantastic teaching that's relevant to today's youth. No Wimps Camp took place this year in Durango, Colorado. We had full days of hiking, white-water rafting, 100 foot repelling and we really camped in tents. Each year, No Wimps Camp is nothing but ADVENTURE! And it radically changes your life. Our New Year's Eve Lock-in is an annual event. It's safe and tons of fun! We usually have ping pong, Mikado Dance Revolution, foosball, cards, dominoes, board games of all kinds, pizza and snacks. We worship, pray in the New Year, watch movies. Some stay up until breakfast!

What's Coming Up!!

Stay tuned. . . . .
