Ministries | Missions
Long after our missions trips and efforts to obey the Great Commission have ended, worship of the Lord God Almighty will still be going on. It will never end:
"And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and inside. Day and night without ceasing they sing, "Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God the Almighty, who was and is and is to come." (Revelation 4:8)
John Piper sums this up best:
"Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, missions will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever. Worship, therefore, is the FUEL and goal of missions. It's the goal of missions because in missions we simply aim to bring the nations into the white-hot ENJOYMENT of God's glory. The goal of missions is the gladness of the peoples in the greatness of God. 1
So when the PASSIONATE flame of our worship is kindled by our understanding of God's overwhelming greatness and superior worth, then our light for the nations will shine ever so brightly into the darkest corners of this earth.
How NHV Shares its Burning Passion
The Association of Vineyard Churches (AVC) recognizes MISSIONS as one of the 10 areas of ministry that are ESSENTIAL to any Vineyard church. In fact it is part of the Vineyard Genetic Code.
The AVC uses U.S. based Partnerships to further missions. A Partnership is a group of churches that voluntarily come together with their time and resources. They choose a target area to focus in and pursue what God has called them to do. Together with the people of the targeted area they develop a strategic plan to carry out the vision.
Partnerships allow small to medium-sized churches make a significant contribution toward accomplishing the Great Commission with cross-cultural and trans-local missions.
As the African proverb says, "If you want to go fast - go alone. If you want to go far - go together."
How to Participate
Throughout the year, short-term missions teams go to distant shores to minister to those who are hurting and hungry.
