Ministries | Behind the Scenes
Behind every church ministry there's usually a small army of VOLUNTEERS who've made it possible. These people don't necessarily want to be in the spotlight but they do have a heart for SERVING God and others. Since you're probably looking for a place to share your talents (or maybe learn new ones) and NHV has plenty of opportunities - we call this our Win/Win section! Some positions require only a weekend per month while others might require more or maybe less. Basically we can use whatever time you can (and want) to share but when you do commit, we need you to be there.
Opportunities / Who to Contact
Administration / Julie Livingston (office@nhvineyard.com)
Provides general support for the NHV Staff. This includes office work, event planning and preparation, assistance with PowerPoint presentations and weekend bulletins.
Experience required. Organization is a must.
Aesthetics & Décor / Natalie Grant (office@nhvineyard.com)
Calling all creative mavens. This broad department oversees minor remodeling, internal signage, graphics production and holiday decorations.
Experience preferred.
Altar Ministry / Mike and Shelby Marquis (office@nhvineyard.com)
Have you ever wondered how they get that grape juice into those itsy bitsy plastic cups? Very carefully. On the first Sunday of each month this team fills the cups for our Communion service. They also handle the details for Advent and various other altar responsibilities and seasonal displays.
No experience required.
Children's Ministry / Brock Vawter (kids@nhvineyard.com)
We couldn't do what we do for your child without the assistance of many volunteers who faithfully serve alongside our paid staff. Please consider signing up for temporary positions so you too may serve our church's littlest ones.
A background check is necessary but no experience is required.
Coffee Bar / Brian Livingston (office@nhvineyard.com)
If you like to get up early, can pour water and put coffee packs into the brewing system, this is a great place for you. Also involves simple take down and rinsing of the brewing pots right after the Sunday service.
No experience required.
Compassion Ministries / Cheryl Vawter (compassion@nhvineyard.com)
Our Compassion Ministries are far reaching. To name a few, we offer hospital and nursing home visits, meal deliveries and light housekeeping for someone recovering from a hospital stay. Any time that you'd be willing to give would be such a blessing to the recipient but even more to you.
No experience required.
Connections Team / Mike Balk (getconnected@nhvineyard.com)
Are you friendly? Do you have the gift of gab? Do you have a heart for reaching out, accepting others and knowing more people? Then this is the spot for you.
No experience required.
Facility & Grounds Care / James Heckman & Natalie Grant (facility@nhvineyard.com)
Carpenters, electricians, landscapers, painters, and plumbers are all vital to the body of Christ. We don't need these services very often but it's very helpful to know who we can count on when needed.
Experience required. Some projects require the volunteer to be licensed.
Guidance Groups / Cliff King & James Heckman (cking@nhvineyard.com)
If God has been gracious to give you in depth knowledge into topics like money, marriage, or Bible study, please consider sharing your insight with an occasional group.
No experience required.
IT Department / Tom Roth (it@nhvineyard.com)
This team maintains our voice and data infrastructure. This includes running network cables, network management, configuring and maintaining PCs and printers.
Experience required.
Men's Ministry / Cliff King (men@nhvineyard.com)
This is one of the best ways to introduce new guys to our church body before they ever attend. If you enjoy a little fun competition, the outdoors, and a little good natured kidding with friends, then so will they. Invite them for various 'manly man' events where we always have a great time without the need to be crude, agressive, or excessive. A great chance to show your son how real men conduct themselves with responsibility, respect, service, and generosity.
No experience required.
Outreach Ministry / Randy and Mary Presley & Cheryl Scramuzza (outreach@nhvineyard.com)
This is the easiest and most fun team we have. ANYONE can participate (young and old) all you need is a willing heart. This is where we show God's kindness to others by doing a humble service for them with no strings attached.
We sometimes hand out free bottles of water, give stuffed animals to hospitalized children, feed the homeless or rake people's yards. You won't believe how good you feel after you've served in an Outreach event. No experience required.
Prayer Ministry / Lorraine Dillow (prayer@nhvineyard.com)
After each service this team gives prayer support for anyone desiring it. The team also provides similar support at our Outreach events.
Ministry training must be completed but no experience is required.
Sound Engineer / Brandon Griffin (sound@nhvineyard.com)
If you have a good ear for sound and music we have a seat for you. Although this seat is not meant to be in the spotlight, when you run sound EVERYONE sees who you are. But it's no sweat if you have experience!
Experience required.
Spick and Span / Julie Livingston (office@nhvineyard.com)
Believe it or not, running a vacuum or mop and bucket is an act of worship to God. Basically, everything we do as Christians is meant to be an act of worship. Our church facility has to be cleaned and maintained each week before Sunday services. This is a great opportunity for families to serve God together.
No experience required.
Website / Mike Marquis & Natalie Grant (webmaster@nhvineyard.com)
The NHV website is vital for communicating our beliefs to guests; for delivering accurate and timely information to our members; and providing valuable resources to all who might need them. This team's responsibilities encompass all aspects of web content planning, coding, production, and user interface. Web content development can range from static pages of plain text to various internet applications, electronic business and the set up of a social network service.
Experience required.
Women's Ministry / Claudia Mizzell (women@nhvineyard.com)
If you'd like to help in organizing some of our gift showers, luncheons and spa events, please consider signing up as a servant volunteer. We can apply your creative talents for setting up tables and decorations, food preparation, clean up or spa services like makeovers and massages.
No experience required.
Worship Support / Julie Livingston (office@nhvineyard.com)
In the Vineyard, worship is Job One. We believe in giving our absolute best to God when we worship with music. Worship support requires dedicated volunteers to operate the projection system for song lyrics and pre-service announcements.
Training available.
Worship Team / Brandon Griffin (music@nhvineyard.com)
We can always use more musicians and backup vocals. If you have a heart for worship and desire to use your musical talents for God, please consider joining us. We meet on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary at 8:30 am to learn new songs, practice our parts and sing differing harmonies.
A tryout is required.
Youth Ministry / Jen Kirk & Brandon Griffin (teens@nhvineyard.com)
This is a perfect opportunity for young adults or those who are young at heart. You get to interact with lots of loud, energetic teenagers! And even if it doesn't seem like it, it's a chance to shape tomorrow's world leaders (scary thought - we know). Our various needs include host parents, event chaperones, small group leaders, event sponsors (give money), snack preparation (loads of snacks), and people with lots of room in their vehicles.
A background check is necessary but no experience is required.
